At our Bag Stuffing Workshops, volunteers, many of whom are Necessities Bag recipients, gather to assemble the many components of the bags. Our workshop in March, 2009, was held at the offices of neighboring businesses and supporters, Little Property Management and Union Travel in East Sacramento. A record 100 Bags were fully assembled in addition to extra Hospital, Stationery, and Wound Care kits for future Bag stuffing. Mare Pare, Breast Cancer Navigator for Sutter Cancer Center, spoke to the volunteers about the impact Necessities Bags make on the patients she meets. Our local Peet’s Coffee contributed an urn of their finest brew, and volunteers enjoyed sharing the treats they made and brought to the event.

Cathy Williams, Independent Demonstrator for Stampin’ Up! is teaming with Necessities Bag Sacramento for a fun afternoon of card making to benefit NBS and Sacramento’s mastectomy patients. Cathy, a recent Necessities Bag recipient, has been donating her handmade cards to Necessities Bag for over a year. She has offered to share her talents with us by designing and providing the materials needed for everyone to make 4 cards. You can then choose to keep the cards for your personal use or donate them to Necessities Bags.
Plan to spend about 2 hours for the workshop. No stamping experience is required – all you need is your favorite dry adhesive such as Tombow Mono Adhesive or a glue stick, a pair of scissors and a willingness to have fun!

This Pillow Party Service Project is sponsored by nonprofit Necessities Bag Sacramento and The Table at Central United Methodist Church. Join others for the Saint Patty’s Day Potato potluck at 6:00 p.m. (bring any potato topping or dessert). Work stations begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. We will cut and match donated fabric, pin, machine-stitch, turn & iron, stuff, and hand-stitch shut these beautiful comfort pillows.
